Every now and then, an organisation comes onto your radar whose mission statement really makes you sit up and take notice. AMI recently crossed paths with YSI (Young Social Innovators) for the first time and we were bowled over by the scale of the organisation’s ambition.
Young Social Innovators
For those who don’t know, YSI is Ireland’s largest social innovation and entrepreneurial education programme for 12 to 18 year-old teens. YSI seeks to empower young people to grapple with difficult social issues, advocate reform and advance change. Since its founding in 2001, more than 130,000 students have engaged in YSI programmes with 7,000 young people taking part in 2016/17 alone. Promoting education for social innovation, the organisation works closely with young people throughout Ireland and encourages them to put their ideas to improve their communities into practice and bring their vision to reality.
A Perfect Partnership
AMI is delighted to announce a new partnership with YSI. AMI joins YSI’s Companies for Social Innovation Network as its Computer Sponsor, and has made an initial donation of IT equipment worth in excess of €30,000. The IT hardware supplied will facilitate the many student-led projects. Our desire is to help YSI fulfil its goals and reach more young people around the country. The shared values of AMI and YSI mean this partnership is perfectly aligned with our commitment to give back to the community, to aid companies in their charity efforts and to minimise the impact of IT waste on our environment.
Supporting Positive Change
YSI is passionate about young people, education and seeing social change brought about through innovation and creativity. AMI is eager to support YSI and, by extension, the student led initiatives which seek to make the world a better place. This partnership affords us the opportunity to even further enhance our zero landfill policy and commitment to a greener planet through the many environmentally friendly student programme projects. In addition, we are proud to become involved in developing the social innovation skills of tomorrow’s leaders in society.
Be sure to stay up to date with the AMI blog and keep an eye out for upcoming exciting news on this new partnership. AMI is thrilled to begin this relationship and is now looking forward to getting behind YSI and supporting the creative, bright and bold ideas of today’s youth.
