Over the last eight weeks, we have seen colossal changes to just about every sector. Because of the global pandemic, organisations have had to adapt more quickly than ever before, whether to rapidly increase services through increased demand or as in many cases, unfortunately, reduce or even close their operation. Across the board, it has, no doubt been challenging.
We all miss our colleagues
AMI and DiskShred support clients across all sectors, and due to the nature of the services we carry out, we have an extensive portfolio of clients in almost every industry imaginable. We have spent time talking to our clients during this unsettling time as we felt that people just wanted to hear a friendly voice. The discomfort that COVID-19 has caused can be felt on every call. We all miss our colleagues, our routine and the security we felt that we had before. Everyone we spoke with is struggling with the unknown.
It has been difficult to hear how some of our hugely successful clients who have experienced a huge loss in business overnight and will face an overwhelming road to recovery.
For other clients, who have experienced increased demand, that also has been incredibly difficult to manage. Supply chains are more vulnerable than ever and social distancing, shielding and sick leave, whilst necessary, do not make it easy for businesses and organisations to meet this increase. These businesses, without doubt, are very grateful to be operating. However, the pressure for them is just as great, albeit in a very different manner.
We’re all in uncharted waters and facing this unprecedented situation together. Knowing how this crisis is affecting our clients, we have an incredible amount of empathy for what they are currently experiencing.
Need to adapt daily
At AMI, we have had to adapt on an almost daily basis to meet customer expectations and maintain some sort of business-as-usual whilst adhering to government guidelines and ensuring the safety and well-being of our colleagues. We’ve changed how we manage IT collections to maintain social distancing, to keep our collection crews and clients safe, introducing new work patterns for some areas of our business. We have also managed a mammoth increase in the sale and rental of refurbished IT equipment to help firms, government departments and students get set up for homeworking and schooling. We’ve even provided engineer resource to customers to support their IT team in getting their workforce ready to work from home.
We don’t yet know what the new normal will be, but it’s clear that in the short-term future at least, we are all, no matter what industry we are in, going to have to learn to adapt on an ongoing basis. We will need to change how we work, whether that for some is continuing to work from home or for others to maintain social distancing in the workplace.
The economy can recover
At AMI, we will strive to continue to support our clients through the recovery from this difficult time. We believe that unlike previous crisis with support provided by governments lots of the economy can recover well, we will be here to support you in your IT disposal needs and will be happy to discuss any other support services we may be able to help with over the coming months and years.
As we move forward into this new normal, please be assured that our core values of honesty, accountability, client-focused, adding value and service quality will be maintained. We are excited to develop a wider range of services and look forward to launching these in the near future.
